What is a Monocacy Creek House Concert?
Our house concerts are like nearly all house concerts.  We invite you to come to our home for an artistic  performance.  We invite a performer or two to entertain all of us.

To compensate the performers for their presentation you make a donation directly to them collected at our home on performance night.  Tradition at house concerts sets this donation at $20 per person, more if you wish and have it, less if you don't.

We set up a listening room for the performance.  We offer dinner to the performers and, if they wish to stay, a place for them to spend the night.

House concert listening rooms are not like bars. Nor is a house concert a party. It's a performance. The artists will expect and deserve the attention of the audience, i.e., you.   Please silence cell phones during the performance. Bringing your own beer or wine is okay.   Harder stuff and smoking are not.

We plan to continue SpaceMountain's scheduling.   Our house concerts will occur on Sunday evenings starting at 7pm and lasting until around 9pm.  We, and most likely you, have to go to work on most Mondays, so an early finish is best.

Also following Judi's and Mike's lead, we will seek to schedule our house concerts so they don't conflict with performances at other cherished Lehigh Valley venues, like Godfrey Daniels.

We very much appreciate all the encouragement we have gotten, especially that of Judi Space.  We promise to do our very best to make Monocacy Creek House Concerts one of your favorite live music experiences.

NOTE: Performing a cover can involve licensing and rights management. As members of the International Folk Alliance we subscribe to their service for this. They’ve negotiated an agreement with ASCAP and BMI (not SESAC, however). It covers private performances at house concerts.  We are covered by this agreement with the PROs and we are careful to comply with the rules to be considered a "house  concert".
  1. Performance is in a private home
  2. Performance is by invitation only*
    1. *the intent of the “invitation only” regulation is that a person cannot just come without some connection to the presenter or artist (i.e. a “wide circle of family and friends”) The details of that compliance might include but not be limited to 1) not publicly displaying your address 2) “by invitation only” or “call for invitation” on all information accessible to the public (i.e. website, flyers)
