The Making and Installation of our Sign
As a 50th wedding anniversary gift to us, our daughter made the sign for us. Actually, she took a metalworking class and a woodworking class and designed and built a very clever sign-hanging apparatus as well as creating the sign itself. The idea is that the sign and the apparatus can be assembled quickly just before each concert and can then be disassembled and stowed away safely. The only parts that remain full-time are two hollow stakes that go deep into the ground.
Sounds simple, right? It is a clever design, but two folks in their seventies can not dig holes and assemble metal pieces as quickly as our daughter can. We have decided to take down the actual sign but leave the supporting apparatus up throughout our "season."
Here are some pictures of our adventures during the initial installation.
